As a specialist Food & Drink PR and Marketing agency we are always on the lookout for the next trend in flavours, techniques and ingredients. Here are some of the trends that will be inspiring us in 2017!
Eat Purple - Purple fruit, veg, grains and pulses are on the trend hit list this year. Having worked with blackcurrant farmer Jo Hilditch for nearly 7 years we’ve been big purple supporters for a while and hope this trend is here to stay!
Traditional Flavours - With such a mad crazy 2016 it’s no surprise that consumers are looking for a sense of familiarity and nostalgia this year. Look out for retro designs and modern takes on old favourites.
Plant Power - Healthy living has definitely lost its fad status and is now part of our everyday lifestyle, which has resulted in lots of new and exciting brands into this sector. Expect to see a lot more meat-free formats hitting the shelves, as the move to a more plant based diet becomes mainstream.
Convenience Foods (but not as we know them) - Time saving food formats are on the increase, but now with a healthier twist. Brands such as Huel are leading the way, with complete nutrition in one pack. It does make us feel a bit like astronauts though! Charring and Smoking - This trend was big last year and will continue to grow in 2017, as will adding active charcoal, which is said to flush out toxins.
Marbling - Drip cakes are so last year (although we’re still yet to master the technique) and it’s now all about marbling…
Savoury Yoghurts - Big in America and heading this way, these veggie based alternatives are starting to fill up our Pinterest feeds.
Anything Fermented - Again led by the health bloggers, fermented foods will continue to bubble away in 2017...
