An Interview with- Two Farmers

This month, we caught up with Sean Mason from Two Farmers Crisps and asked him to share with us key things he has learned running his challenger crisp brand, which is now in over 1,000 outlets nationwide. All of course, whilst doing right by the planet.

  1. What inspired the creation of Two Farmers?
Sean: We were driven by a passion for sustainable farming and a desire to offer consumers a product that's both delicious and environmentally friendly. Seeing the impact of traditional farming and packaging on our planet, we wanted to create a brand that stood for positive change.

  2. How do you maintain high standards of sustainability in your production process?
Sean: Sustainability is at our core. We use locally sourced ingredients, implement regenerative farming practices, and our packaging is 100% compostable. Every decision is measured against its environmental impact.

  3. As a challenger brand, how do you differentiate yourselves in a competitive market?
Sean: Our uniqueness lies in our commitment to quality and sustainability. We don't just sell snacks; we offer a story of ethical production, from farm to shelf. This resonates with consumers who are increasingly conscious of their purchasing impact.

  4. What challenges did you face in the early stages and how did you overcome them?
Sean: Initially, it was about gaining trust and visibility. We focused on building a strong, authentic brand identity and leveraged social media to connect with our audience. Transparency and consistency in our messaging were key.

  5. What role has social media played in your brand's growth?
Sean: Social media has been pivotal. It's enabled us to tell our story, engage with consumers, and build a community around shared values. Platforms like Instagram and Facebook have been instrumental in driving awareness and engagement.

  6. How do you stay agile and innovative in your approach?
Sean: We constantly listen to our customers and adapt quickly. Whether it's tweaking our recipes or exploring new marketing channels, agility is embedded in our ethos. We're not afraid to try new things and learn from them.

  7. Can you share a significant learning experience as a challenger brand?
Sean: A key lesson was the importance of authenticity. In trying to stand out, it's easy to lose sight of your core values. Staying true to our mission of sustainability and quality has guided us through every decision.

  8. How do you envision the future of Two Farmers?
Sean: Our vision is to expand our reach while maintaining our commitment to sustainability. We aim to innovate continuously, introducing new products that align with our ethos and exploring sustainable technologies that can further reduce our environmental impact.

  9. What are your aspirations for Two Farmers in the next five years?
Sean: We aspire to become a leader in sustainable snacking, influencing the industry towards more eco-friendly practices. Our goal is to broaden our product range, strengthen our community engagement, and continue making a positive impact on the environment.

  10. What advice would you give to other startups looking to make a positive impact?
Sean: Stay passionate about your mission, be prepared to adapt, and always consider the broader impact of your business. Success isn't just about profit; it's about making a difference in the world.
