Are you ready for Google's consent-mode V2?- deadline March 6th 2024

Google Consent Mode V2 comes into force on March 6th 2024. This is an upgrade to Google's tool that helps websites manage visitor consents more effectively, ensuring they comply with privacy laws like GDPR and DMA while still being able to run effective online ads.

We asked partner agency Launch Online who specialise in performance marketing what brand managers should be doing to make sure they remain compliant after March 6th 2024.

Head of Data & Analytics, Ian Lewis, shared these useful action steps:

1. Audit and Adapt: Review your site's use of cookies and ensure compliance with Consent Mode. This involves setting up your cookie banners correctly and preparing for Consent Mode v2's mandatory implementation.

2. Leverage First-Party Data: Shift focus towards first-party data collection. This approach respects user privacy and provides valuable insights directly from your audience.

3. Explore New Technologies: Familiarise yourself with the Privacy Sandbox and other alternatives to third-party cookies. These technologies offer a path forward for effective advertising and analytics in a privacy-first world.

4. Stay Informed and Prepared: With changes rolling out swiftly, keeping abreast of the latest tools and regulations is essential. Utilise resources like Google's blog and support from Google-certified partners like Launch to navigate these transitions smoothly.
